The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn #1)

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, The Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end.

REVIEW:

THIS BOOK ! THIS BOOK!

I seriously give this book a 99% My best read of 2015. The writing style is a masterpiece, the character are so well rounded and the diversity of to die for. If you haven't read this book, go and read it you will not regret it.

I started this book in the one of the worst days of my life. It was raining consequently when I walk to school I got wet , I was late to school, had finals , I forgot the book I was reading at the time, I had my Physics AP final, the library was close so I couldn't print my project....IT WAS HORRIBLE!

In my school finals means classes of 3 hours. you always end the test like 1 hour before the bell rings in the worst case scenario, in a normal test you only need like 45 minutes to represent the final.YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? It means LOTS LOTS LOTS of time to read. and I forgot my book. which  was the worst thing it could happen and the library was close so I couldn't grab a book there. I thank all the stars in heaven that the only book in my phone was The Wrath and The Dawn.

When you start reading this masterpiece, is hard there is a lot and i mean A LOT of weird terms, English being  my second language strange terms are not my friends. just KEEP GOING is so so so so worth it.

Okay, spoilers from now on.

KHALID

Khalid is now in my TOP 5 of book boyfriends

1Will Herondale
2 Percy Jackson
3 Aaron Warner
4 Khalid Ibnal-Rashid
5 Kaz Bekker

“Shazi,

I prefer the color blue to any other. The scent of lilacs in your hair is a source of constant torment. I despise figs. Lastly, I will never forget, all the days of my life, the memories of last night—
For nothing, not the sun, not the rain, not even the brightest star in the darkest sky, could begin to compare to the wonder of you.

Khalid.”

Their relationship was so real. it was not insta-love which is so reminiscence in literature nowadays. its built in respect and admiration for each other.

“You are not weak. You are not indecisive. You are strong. Fierce. Capable beyond measure.”

The pace of the book was perfection, it kept  me in the edge of my seat ALL THE TIME. Like i said before the writing if so gorgeous and poetic.

The friendship between Jalal and Shazi was so cute, they are my brotp

“So you would have me throw Shazi to the wolves?”
“Shazi?” Jalal’s grin widened. “Honestly, I pity the wolves.”

THE ENDING!! WAS NOT OKAY! I AM NOT OKAY!!!

Now we have to wait until MAY  3 for this beauty.

To be honest, sometimes I dont know if Im going to be okay. they are days that the only thing I want in life is this book.

If Khalid and Shazi dont end up together, my soul will open and it will become a black hole, which will destroy the universe.
